Dear Kris:

I am so happy to be sending you this letter. In heart-felt gratitude for who and what you are in this world and specifically in my world, I am enclosing a check for you for $1,000.  My hope is that you can use this money for something you would personally enjoy, perhaps a meal with family or friends, good massages or whatever would add to the joy of being you, although of course it is entirely up to you on how you use it.

I am sending this to you as part of a workshop series called The Foundations of Happiness that I have facilitated for the past several years at Inner Source Healing, a nonprofit healing arts school and community in Malvern, Pennsylvania.  Every spring and fall, the series explores a different theme. Last spring, we explored true confidence and this fall the theme is prosperity.

So far, the “homework” assignments for each of the three classes we have held have been 1) give something freely to yourself, 2) give freely to someone who it is hard for you to give to, and now 3) give freely to someone who doesn’t specifically need what you are giving.  You immediately popped into my heart and mind with the amount of $1,000. The money comes from what I have earned both as a teacher of self-transformation and healing and as spiritual counselor and vibrational energy healer in my private practice. I have prayed and mediated on it and it feels so right to send this to you.

You and your family have inspired me for many years with your love, commitment to each other, faith in God, openness, enthusiasm, self-care, commitment to self-growth, creative capacities and so much more.  I am 53 years-old and am married with 4 children (a girl and 3 boys) ages 26, 23, 21 and 17.  I started my career as a litigation attorney for a large firm in Philadelphia, but then had the privilege to be able to choose to stay home after the birth of my second child.  I have always been a seeker of healing, of living the best life possible and sharing light, hope and love with others.  You have been an exemplary model for me in this way.

I started taking care of my body and my appearance better when I began watching your show years ago. As a matter of fact, I would laugh at myself when I would get the mascara and eyeliner out when a show would be over.  It was a small, simple thing, but it boosted my self-esteem and gave myself some of that caring energy that I had directed outward, which I needed. I watched how you handled the pain and heartache of family life and marital issues with vulnerability and honesty and I felt like I wasn’t alone in the painful issues of my own life.  Most significantly, I watched you forgive and love, over and over and over again.  In our prosperity series, the spiritual wisdom that I have read says that real prosperity comes from loving-kindness, mercy and forgiveness.  It is no wonder your family can create as much abundance as you do.

I wish you and all those you hold dear a lifetime of expansive love, unending hope, vibrant health and true happiness.

With a deeply grateful heart:

Cindy

P.S. I was at the 76ers vs the Cavaliers game over Thanksgiving weekend and saw your daughter Kendall watching from the sidelines. I was again inspired when I saw Tristan go over to Kendall after the game and see them give each other a big hug. Wow.
